TEG Holds First Annual 5K Run

McLean, VA – The Engle Group (TEG) invited employees, business partners, customers, and all related family members to join its staff in a new tradition, The TEG First Annual 5k Run.

Fifteen runners met at the historic Vienna passenger and freight depot of the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) Railroad. The depot is located along side of the 45 mile long W&OD Railroad trail that runs from Alexandria, Virginia to Purcellville, Virginia.

The blaring horn of a renovated 1957 four-door Chevy Belair, a replica of “Car 54”, sent the runners off on a circular course that brought them to milestone 13.5 of the trail and back to the train depot. Runners were cheered on by other employees, spouses, and children.

Mike Matyas of Mt. Airey Group, Inc. edged out TEG’s President, Jeffrey Beyer, to win the race.
“We initiated the 5K run to encourage camaraderie among our employees, partners, and customers,” said Jeffrey Beyer. “Along the way, a number of our employees embraced a workout schedule in preparation for the race that we hope will persuade them to keep up a healthy lifestyle.”

All participants in the run and supporters retreated to a local tavern for light beverages and eats after the race.

TEG looks forward to more participants in the race next year.
