Survivors Left Behind to Benefit from Donation for TAPS Good Grief Camps & Survivor Support

McLean, VA – Families of our fallen military don’t have to grieve alone, thanks to a donation by The Engle Group to TAPS, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

Helping the surviving families of our fallen military through TAPS is a natural fit for The Engle Group. “These families have given everything for us and for our country,” said Marty Engle, President and CEO of The Engle Group. “It is absolutely our duty to give back and provide support in every way we can.”

TAPS is the national organization providing compassionate care to anyone grieving the death of someone who served in the military. TAPS provides peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, seminars for adults, Good Grief Camps for children, case work assistance, and a 24/7 resource helpline for all who have been affected by a death in the Armed Forces.

Donors and TAPS programs will be recognized at the annual TAPS Honor Guard Gala, being held April 5, 2011 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington.

While our nation’s capital city hosts many fundraising events, none are as poignant as the TAPS Honor Guard Gala. At this event, widows, children, parents and other survivors of our fallen military sit next to leading entertainers, CEOs, military leaders and supporters to talk about how TAPS has helped their families following the death of a loved one in military service.

TAPS is one of several key organizations locally and internationally The Engle Group supports through sponsorships and donations. Other organizations include DC Central Kitchen, which provides meals for the hungry in the D.C. metropolitan area, Youth for Tomorrow, which is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and compassionate environment for at-risk youth who have been abandoned, abused, or otherwise alienated from family and community, and Heifer International, which provides sustainable support to people in need around the world

Small, woman-owned government contractor donates $20,000 to Heifer International

McLean, VA – The Engle Group (TEG) has donated $20,000 to Heifer International – specifically, to Heifer Senegal to help women in need in Senegal, West Africa. The donation will help the Diarrere Integrated Production and Market Development Project, a five-year project aimed at improving productivity through diversified livestock and field cropping initiatives.

With the $20,000 donation:

Women in the project will receive poultry to raise for egg production, to help pay school fees so their children can go to school.

Peanut farmers will receive 20 new peanut-processing machines to help significantly increase productivity. Currently, women must travel at least four miles to process the peanuts they grow.

A group water supply will be built to help sustain the project’s animals. As Senegal borders the Sahara Desert, this is critical for project success.

“Giving back is probably the most important part of what we do,” said Marty Engle, President and CEO of The Engle Group. “We make business decisions every day. This is the perfect example of how those decisions can have a positive impact on people in need, half way around the world.”

About Heifer International
Heifer’s mission is to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. Since 1944, Heifer International has provided livestock and environmentally sound agricultural training to improve the lives of those who struggle daily for reliable sources of food and income. Heifer is currently working in 50 countries, including the United States, to help families and communities become more self-reliant. For more information, visit www.heifer.org or call (800) 696-1918.

Through this single-award BPA TEG will provide USDA with a broad range of IT support services. TEG has supported USDA for over 26 years through many phases of the evolution and maturation of USDA’s IT Infrastructure. TEG’s innovative and, many times, unique approaches continue to support USDA to, not only meet their IT goals and objectives, but far exceed them. This BPA calls for TEG to provide USDA support in the areas of Program and Task Management Support; Systems Development, Operations, and Integration; Service Desk and Operations Support; Adoption and Enablement of Emerging Technologies and Standards; Architecture and Engineering Support; Industry and Interagency Interaction and Support; Policy Planning, Studies, and Assessment Support; Voice Services Support; and Business Consulting Services Support.

McLean, VA – The Engle Group (TEG) volunteered at the DC Central Kitchen participating in the Kitchen’s on-going mission to reprocess over one ton of surplus food each day, that would otherwise go to waste, and turn it into 4,500 meals for the hungry in the greater Washington, DC region.

The Kitchen is founded on the premise that when fighting poverty, one must fight to win by using every resource available. Be it food, money, or people, the DC Kitchen hates to see wasted potential. Since its inception, DC Central Kitchen has used the kitchen as a central location to recover unused food, prepare and deliver meals to partner social service agencies, train and employ homeless men and women for the food service industry, and intellectually engage volunteers.

TEG applauds the mission of the DC Central Kitchen and is proud to have the opportunity to support the organization and the Washington community.

McLean, VA – The Engle Group’s (TEG) Information Security and Forensics Team has been asked to present its findings and recommendations on “Cyber Attack Profiling” to the Joint Agency Cyber Knowledge Exchange (JACKE).

Created by the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), JACKE was implemented to improve situational awareness and recommend actions for Federal agency security operation centers.

The presentation will provide an overview of months of in-depth data analysis obtained through the tracking of orchestrated security incidents, reverse engineering, and “shadow tracking” of security events. TEG’s team will present cyber security “profiles” that can be leveraged to help counteract current and future security events. The presentation will provide insight into specific patterns that have been observed and will impart systematic methods which have proven successful in the alerting and prevention of unauthorized security events.
